Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet 10.1

Barnes & Noble's 10.1-inch Nook is a solid Android tablet for downloading apps from Google Play and reading comics.

In-store service and support from Barnes & Noble. Good size for comics. Google Play access. Plenty of storage.

Slow performance. Poor cameras.

Cheap tablets are not going to perform well. We need to keep emphasizing that: You get what you pay for. If you want a really smooth-performing 10-inch tablet, get our Editor's Choice, the entry-level $329 Apple iPad. (There aren't any great 10-inch...

Nook GlowLight e-ink e-reader review

Barnes & Noble's next-generation 6-inch e-ink e-reader, the Nook GlowLight, shares the same shape as the earlier Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight , but it sheds its carbon-colored shell for a warmer, off-white housing that has a rubberized gray trim...

Barnes & Noble's second-generation Nook GlowLight improves on an already good e-reader, with a lighter design than the Kindle Paperwhite, improved lighting scheme, sharper text, and other enhancements, including the elimination of page flashing. You...

Lacks the expansion slot and page-turn buttons found on previous models. While the device is responsive, Barnes & Noble would have ideally equipped it with a faster processor. White finish can show some grime from your hands. Nook content ecosystem is...

While it doesn't necessarily beat the Kindle Paperwhite, the $119 Nook GlowLight is an excellent e-reader that's strongly worth considering if you don't want to buy into the Amazon ecosystem.

Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ review

At only $149, the Nook HD+ is a fantastic value. It's a 9-inch tablet with a high-resolution screen, and implements magazines and catalogs better than any tablet before it. It also includes a microSD slot and is lightweight; however, it doesn't feel as...

The Barnes & Noble Nook HD+ starts at only $149, and has a sharp screen, good performance, and a microSD slot. It's also lightweight and comfortable, and implements magazines and catalogs better than any other tablet.

There are no cameras, the screen is susceptible to fingerprints, and the OS can feel sluggish at times.

The Nook HD+ is a low-price, quality entry point into the world of tablets, especially now that it has full Google Play support.

Barnes & Noble Nook HD review:

The Nook HD is light, comfortable, and has the sharpest screen of any current 7-inch tablet. With full access to the Google Play store, "limited app availability" can now be crossed off as its major caveat.

The Barnes & Noble Nook HD has a light, comfortable design with a sharp screen and a well-implemented user profiles feature. Books, videos, and magazines look great and the microSD slot takes some of the sting out of the lack of internal storage.

It’s missing some typical tablet features and 8GB is still a low starting point for storage. Fingerprints easily sully the screen and performance can be sluggish at times.

The Barnes & Noble Nook HD's sharp screen and comfortable body make it an ideal tablet choice, especially for reading books, magazines and watching movies. Google Play now only adds to the allure.

Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet (16GB) review

Editors' note (September 27, 2012): Barnes & Noble has cut the price of the Nook Tablet line: the 8GB Nook Tablet is now $179, the 16GB is $199. Prospective buyers should note that Barnes & Noble is planning to launch two new Nook Tablets in early...

The Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet is a full-featured tablet with a vibrant 7-inch touch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, 16GB of built-in storage, and a microSD expansion slot. In addition to a full slate of books and magazines, it offers more than a thousand apps...

No access to full Android Market; no Bluetooth, GPS, or camera; no video rental (or purchase) option; sideloaded content beyond 1GB needs to be housed on microSD.

With more storage and a growing app store, the Nook Tablet is a worthy--albeit slightly more expensive--competitor to the Kindle Fire.

Barnes & Noble Nook (first generation) review

The Barnes & Noble Nook, the first Android-powered e-book reader, has had an interesting, if somewhat tumultuous, history. When it was first unveiled in the fall of 2009, a lot of people were excited because it appeared to offer some key competitive...

Large library with tens of thousands of e-books, as well as newspapers and magazines; built-in Wi-Fi connectivity (no PC needed); separate capacitive color touch-screen pad for navigation, and a virtual keyboard for notes and annotations; 2GB of...

No protective carrying case included; color LCD has an impact on battery life; in-store reading and loaning capabilities come with notable limits and caveats; no support for Word or text files; no ability to download books when outside the U.S.

The Nook Wi-Fi doesn't quite measure up to the Kindle in terms of design and overall performance, but it's a worthy alternative if you're looking for a more open e-reader that supports the EPUB format.

Barnes & Noble Nook HD+

Barnes & Noble has been enjoying some time in the spotlight recently. The decisions it has made have been good though, and we think have improved the chances of its devices being seen in a fairly crowded market. First, the company reduced the price of...

Stylish, well priced, fantastic screen, access to Google Play, good store and app/book/video selection, well designed UI, good battery life

Store sometimes more expensive than Amazon, quite heavy,

There is the feeling when you're using the Nook that it's really not all that fast, at least in terms of raw processing power. Sometimes when performing fairly simple tasks we'd find the graphical transitions would stutter and lag. Strangely, this...

Barnes & Noble Nook HD

If you're looking for a tablet, then you're spoilt for choice. This year has seen a great move towards smaller tablets, with the launch of the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD and the iPad Mini. Joining this rather prestigious bunch is the Nook HD. The Nook HD...

Great high-resolution display, weight, microSD card allows expansion, content makes the most of the hardware, movie options, supports UltraViolet and Adobe DRM

App selection could be better, no music offering, locked-down hardware means it's tricky to add your own apps, case vibration when volume turned up, shop results could be returned bettter

The Nook HD is a powerful tablet that's been thoughtfully customised to offer a great user experience. Barnes & Noble has tweaked the user interface to make it simple and approachable. There's plenty of content on offer and the navigation options...

Nook GlowLight review

Is the Nook GlowLight worth a glowing recommendation?

Bright, crisp screen ; Light and portable ; Big library of titles

Touchscreen lag ; No microSD ; Questionable build quality

An ereader that competes with Amazon's Kindle Paperwhite on design and price, if not on quality. The decent online library will keep you stacked with titles while the improved screen and backlight make for comfortable reading marathons.
